The Communication Studies major is for those who want to explore a variety of communication career options. This program provides a broad-based study of human communication and allows students the flexibility of putting together their own individualized plan of study in the discipline. Students whose programs consist primarily of dramatic arts and public speaking courses will be awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree. Students who concentrate in interpersonal, organizational, mass media and journalism course work will be awarded the Bachelor of Science degree.

Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts program is designed to prepare students for competitive careers in professional theatre, theatre education or graduate studies in theatre. Students will focus on and explore one or more of the following facets of theatre: acting, directing, design, playwriting or stage management.

The Bachelor of Science in Interpersonal Communication teaches students about the development of listening, empathy, trust, influence, conflict management, verbal and nonverbal communication in a Christ-centered community. Learn how people relate to each other in friendships, families, romance, church and work and become a stronger communicator in every aspect of your life.

The Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Studies equips students to work in various positions within the creative and production teams of film and television. With a strong focus on storytelling, students will learn how to convey their thoughts and ideas in ways that connect with an audience. They will also learn from experienced professors how to take creative ideas and make them flourish.

The Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Journalism trains students to work as journalists who tell stories that matter in their communities. Trevecca’s state-of-the-art technology and curriculum prepare students for jobs at news stations, newspapers, magazines and online publications. The program is also a good fit for those who have interest in public relations and other media writing careers.

The Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication is for students interested in applying their communication skills in a business, church, government, not-for-profit agency and more. Students can strengthen their relational communication, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and develop an understanding of the issues facing organizations and members of all types.
