This accelerated bachelor’s program, created for students who have already completed a minimum of 40 college credit hours, includes coursework that prioritizes creativity, accountability and intentionality while emphasizing three key areas of study:
- Management Development
Enhance your capabilities to oversee teams and initiatives. Build skills and knowledge in key management areas such as strategic and systems management, human resources and marketing. - Leadership Development
Expands your competency to perform in leadership roles within organizations. Receive insight on leadership theories, conflict resolution, change management, personal values and ethics in business. - Personal Development
Become equipped with the knowledge needed to succeed not only in the classroom, but also in your career. Develop personal leadership skills, interpersonal relations, organizational behaviors and a biblical worldview.
What students can expect:
Flexibility. The program exists to provide working adults with the opportunity to complete a college degree in a schedule and format particularly designed to meet their unique needs. Attend class face-to-face at one of Trevecca’s three locations one night a week or complete your degree fully online. And when we say fully online, we mean it! Books and supplies are delivered to your front door and you’ll never have to step foot on campus. Study when it’s convenient for you—an hour in the morning over coffee, during your lunch break or after your kids’ bedtime. For more than 30 years, the manageable workload of our continuing education programs has made it a tremendous success for hundreds of working adults.
Support. Small class sizes allow faculty members to get to know students individually and provide mentoring relationships that help them achieve personal growth while simultaneously offering academically rigorous coursework. Additionally, Trevecca utilizes a cohort model of study, where students begin and complete their degree alongside a group of other classmates—either in person or online—who are taking the same classes and working toward the same goal. Your peers provide the support needed so you can get the most out of your studies. Even while taking online classes, you’ll stay engaged with your cohort, exchanging emails and online discussions on a weekly basis.
Success. The benefits of returning to college to complete your degree can be life changing! Whether it’s increasing your earning potential, positioning yourself for a promotion or jump-starting a new career path, earning a degree will leave you equipped and empowered for the future. Our graduates currently work in fields such as business, technology, ministry, government, military, social services and health care.
“Every class is taught from a practical perspective,” says program director Dr. Cathy Hendon. “Students want to know how this degree can be immediately applied to their professional life or goals, and we’ve structured the program with that in mind.”

Testimonials
A Dance Teacher Equipped to Serve Her Students
Ashley Rogers' focus as a dance teacher isn't just to teach technique and choreography but to help her students grow spiritually in order to excel in life. Through her program with Trevecca, Ashley feels equipped to serve her students while still balancing family, work and life outside of her program.
An Accomplished Musician Finishes What He Began
More than 40 years ago, Christian music pioneer Eddie DeGarmo dropped out of college. But he promised his mother that one day he’d finish his degree. Decades later, after a career as both a successful music artist and music executive, DeGarmo was admitted to Trevecca to complete a bachelor’s degree in general studies from the University’s School of Graduate and Continuing Studies.
The welcoming atmosphere and mentoring relationships between faculty and students empowered him to succeed. From the administration to the professors, the Trevecca team made going back to school after a 40-year break possible, he says.
“The theme for me has been to stay true to my promises and finish what I began,” says DeGarmo. “I’ve learned that training and education lead to success. Now I want to pour my life into others and use my experience to help them through their own journeys.”
Eddie DeGarmo, ’17, is a former band member of DeGarmo and Key and one of the founders of the Christian music label ForeFront Records.
A City Leader Equipped to Serve
William Swann began his career as a firefighter. Through the years he progressed through the department as a Training Academy instructor, director of the Office of Emergency Management and Deputy Fire Director. “I had an associate degree, and I completed other classes that were relevant to my work,” he recalls. “I was somewhat content with my education because it was all related to my job, but one day I asked myself, ‘Am I the best I can be?’”
Swan decided to apply to Trevecca to earn his bachelor’s degree in Management and Human relations. “It was a great experience for me,” he says. “A family atmosphere exists on campus that is enhanced by the University’s cohort model. You work together, study together and even eat together. Gradually, the past limitations you may have put on yourself start to fade away. The focus becomes on your goals and who you want to become.”
Upon graduation, Swann said he was better equipped to lead in his department and do his best work for the city of Nashville. Shortly after he finished his degree he was promoted from Interim Chief to Director Chief of the Nashville Fire department.
“My mission is to serve my community,” Swan says. “The priority at Trevecca on developing servant leaders definitely prepared me to do just that.”
William Swan, ’18, is the first African American to serve as Director Chief of the Nashville Fire Department.
A Graduate-Turned-University Employee
Jocelyn McCoy says a job layoff became the impetus for change in her life almost a decade ago.
“After I lost my position, my husband turned to me and said, “You’ve always wanted to go back to school,” McCoy recalls. “Now’s the time.”
“I decided to attend an informational session at Trevecca,” says McCoy. “Initially I thought I had 60 credit hours that would be transferable, but because I had been out of school so long, I discovered I only had about 48 credit hours.
“I just started to cry,” she remembers. But then my academic adviser asked me, “Do you want this degree? If so, we can put you on a plan to make it happen. We can do it.”
“So that’s what we did,” McCoy says. She went on to not only earn her bachelor’s degree in Management and Human Relations but also a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, both from Trevecca. Today, she plays a key role in helping other adult students return to school and accomplish their long-awaited goals.
Jocelyn McCoy, ’12, MOL ’15, currently serves as the senior outreach recruiter for Trevecca’s School of Graduate and Continuing Studies.
