Payment Options

There are essentially three ways by which you can cover your tuition and fees costs at Trevecca Nazarene University:

  1. Financial aid
  2. Out of pocket, lump sum payments
  3. Payment plans

1. Financial Aid

There are essentially three places to get aid:

  1. The federal government
  2. The institution you are attending
  3. The private sector

Federal Government
This step starts with you filling out your 2018 – 2019 FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov and inputting our school code (003526).  This information will then be sent to us within 7 days of your FAFSA submission.

Federal aid can be broken down into 2 categories:

Grants/Scholarships Loans
Typically this would be the Pell Grant and only available for undergraduate course work. If your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is greater than or equal to 5487, you will not be eligible for the Pell Grant. Your EFC should be available on your completed FAFSA application. All EFCs below 5487 may be eligible on a sliding scale, TNU would be happy to help you determine what, if any, Pell Grant you qualify for.
*Federal grants/scholarships for graduate course work are extremely limited.
Federal Loans for non-traditional and graduate course work are limited to Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans. To familiarize yourself with the difference between the two, please visit http://www.staffordloan.com/stafford-loan-info/faq/.
*Please note Subsidized Stafford Loans are not available for Graduate coursework.

Institutional Aid:
TNU does not currently offer Institutional Aid for its non-traditional programs.

Private Sector:
There are constant news reports of millions of grant/scholarship dollars that go unclaimed every year. The problem, however, is how to find that unclaimed money and then qualify for it. Honestly, most of the money that is available is usually earmarked for traditional college students. That’s not to say there isn’t money out there for non-traditional students, just that it is very difficult to find.
I wish there was website that you could go to too find all the scholarships to apply for, but that website simply doesn’t exist. Instead, some non-traditional students have had success making a scholarship search akin to a part time job. They spend hours searching for the most obscure scholarships they can find, applying for 100’s of them and maybe getting accepted by one or two. So after applying for several hundred they begin to accrue a small pile of scholarship money.  The one warning I have for this option is to never pay for the information.  It is all available for free and if you are asked to pay, you can be assured it is a scam.

2. Out of Pocket, Lump Sum Payments

  1. Pay online* (This can be done after registration by using your log in information.)
  2. Mail payment to TNU Accounting Office, 333 Murfreesboro Road, Nashville, TN 37210.
  3. Pay at the Cashier’s Office** on campus, top floor of the Martin Building, Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

* Credit card payments will be assessed a convenience fee equaling 2.85% of your total transaction by Paypath and added to the amount charged to your card. (For example, a payment of $1,000.00 via credit card would result in a $1,028.50 charge.)

** Payment via telephone with a credit card will no longer be available. The only forms of payment that will be accepted in the Accounting Office for the payment of tuition and fees will be cash, debit, check or money order. This applies to payments submitted in person or via the USPS.

3. Payment Plans

Trevecca offers 3 month or 4 month interest free payment plans.  These are quick and easy ways to spread your payments out over a longer period of time.  The length of your plan will be determined by the length of your semester.  This can be done after registration for courses is complete. We would be happy to assist you.

Beginning in Fall 2012, students are now limited to 12 semesters (or 600%) of Pell Grant eligibility during their lifetime. This change affects all students regardless of when or where they received their first Pell Grant.
  • Can I see my Lifetime Pell Grant Used?
