Overview
"I'd say students should choose Trevecca to study physics because of the one-on one times with professors that a school like Trevecca can offer."
Trevecca physics students benefit from one-on-one interaction with faculty inside and outside the classroom, a nurturing Christian environment and broad liberal arts curriculum. We offer an academically rigorous curriculum that can be tailored to fit your calling.
At Trevecca, students and faculty work together in a dynamic environment that provides unique opportunities for research. To broaden the student experience, faculty actively collaborate with other universities and corporations.
Earning your degree in a strong Christian community means you’ll be grow your education and worldview, without sacrificing your beliefs and values. Our small class sizes allow you to focus on different research, projects or assignments on a deeper level.
Trevecca’s physics program offers unique classroom, lab and research experiences. You’ll have opportunities to work alongside professors on a variety of projects, from near-space research to electron microscopy and from digital electronics to working with a solar telescope, you’ll gain hands-on experience you can’t get just anywhere. Our faculty also actively collaborates with other universities and corporations to further your educational experience.
Trevecca’s physics program can help you take your education, research and future farther!
Neocera Grant
The Neocera Grant funds Trevecca students as undergraduate research assistants and allows them to gain hands-on experience as they work with faculty on various research and development projects. For the past four years, Trevecca has collaborated with Neocera and the University of Maryland on a federally- funded project focused on using a SQUID microscope to develop new circuit analysis tools for the semiconductor industry. Skills and experience that students develop during their work help contribute to their success in the industry and in graduate programs. For example, Trevecca physics graduate Cody Ballard ’12 is now a Ph.D. student working on quantum computing at the University of Maryland, and Matt Keffer ’13 is working as a hardware test engineer at Northrup Grumman Corporation. Physics professor, Dr. Fred Cawthorne was formerly the director of engineering at Neocera and his continuing professional relationship with the company has allowed Trevecca to build the SQUID microscope at Trevecca and obtain an extensive amount of equipment at no cost to the University.
“The Neocera Grant has given me the opportunity to be a part of research that goes way beyond my coursework and that would normally not be available to me at the undergraduate level.”
Aaron Stevens, Physics Major
What our students say:
"I'd say students should choose Trevecca to study physics because of the one-on one times with professors that a school like Trevecca can offer. Whether it's time spent answering questions or opportunities outside the classroom learning to use sophisticated equipment like the SQUID microscope or participating in the high altitude balloon launches there are many opportunities for students to get involved and get direction and guidance from their professors that students at larger universities may not have. I also felt that a physics education at Trevecca more than prepared me for the next step of graduate school."

Operations Accelerator Engineer
What our professors say:
"I deeply value my own experience at a Christian college, and I am committed to working constantly to maintain academic excellence with a distinctly Christian perspective."
