Overview
Trevecca’s two-year Associate of Science in Business Degree will provide students with a strong foundation in business, while also equipping them with an excellent general education. Students will become well versed in accounting, business communication, management, human resources, marketing, economics and spreadsheets. This program also allows students to select three courses from additional topics based on their own personal interests, allowing them to grow and explore while also earning their degree. After completing this program, students will be able to seamlessly transition into our four-year Bachelor of Business Administration program or our Bachelor's of Science Business program.

Principles of Accounting I
ACN 2100
Provides students with a basic understanding of the role of accounting information in business. Focuses on business operating processes throughout the management planning, performing and evaluating cycles. Intended to open the door on understanding the world of business, provide insights on how businesses operate, and enable students to become familiar with the conventions used by businesses to report to those who need to know more about the business.

Business Communication

Focuses on the development of the communication skills necessary for effective management. Interpersonal, small group, and organizational communications are considered. Both written and oral communication skills are emphasized.

Human Resources Management
COM 3040
Emphasizes the role of human resources management in an effective organization. Topics include personnel planning, recruitment, selection, training, and performance appraisal, among others.

Computer Applications Using Spreadsheets and Databases
ITI 2020
Designed to review the basics and give the student an in-depth understanding with hands-on experience in using electronic spreadsheets to support business needs. In addition, this course will introduce the student to relational databases and require practical, hands-on application of many of the functions available with database technology.

Principles of Macroeconomics

An introduction to the study of macroeconomics with an emphasis on the issues of inflation, unemployment and growth. Prerequisite to all advanced courses in the department except as noted.

TVA Investment Challenge
BUS 2700
Provides students with a brief introduction to and basic understanding of the economic environment and financial markets. Students will learn to locate and evaluate relevant financial data and information relating to domestic and international business with the goal of making sound stock selections. Students will utilize their obtained knowledge to purchase actual stocks as part of their participation in the TVA Investment Challenge. Students may take this course three times for college credit.
