Biography
Before coming to Trevecca in 2006, Stephanie taught for eight years in the Washington, D.C. area at Marymount University in Arlington, Va. She has received the Teaching Excellence Award from Trevecca, as well as the Dean’s Award for the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant for the College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences and the Excellence in Teaching Departmental Award, both from the University of Maryland, College Park. Stephanie also enjoys advising and interacting closely with students, especially the mathematics secondary education majors.
Areas of Expertise
Enjoys teaching a wide range of classes including general education courses, Calculus I, Calculus III, Introduction to Abstract Mathematics, Mathematical Theory of Probability and Statistics, and Introduction to Real Analysis and Euclidean and non-Euclidean Geometry.
Dr. Cawthorne's dissertation, Forcing with Directed Families of Finite Structures, was in the area of model theory in the field of mathematical logic. Her dissertation was also the subject of an invited talk, Forcing and Directed Families of Finite Structures, given at the Mid-Atlantic Mathematical Logic Seminar, and an article, “Essential Forcing Generics,” published jointly with her adviser, Dr. David Kueker, in the Notre Dame Journal of Formal Logic.
