Brent McMillian, from Bradenton, Florida, teaches philosophy, theology, and world religions. The son and grandson of Nazarene ministers, he is a licensed minister on the Tennessee District of the Church of the Nazarene. At Trevecca, Vanderbilt, Jerusalem University College, and Claremont, he studied the intersections of philosophy, world religions, and Christian theology and engaged in intensive ecumenical and interreligious dialogue. He has taught at Trevecca since 2003 and was awarded the University’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2006. His diverse, interdisciplinary scholarly interests converge on the single concern of understanding the nature and shape of faithful Christian discipleship in the academy, the church, and the world. He enjoys backcountry hiking, gardening, sports, and world travel. Brent lives in south Nashville with his wife, Marcy, and son, Elijah.
