Alisha J. Russell, from Ault, Colorado, teaches biology. In graduate school, she focused on breast cancer and the role of the transcription factor C/EBPbeta2 in mammary cancerogenesis and its resistance to commonly used therapeutics. Although she loves research, her true passion is teaching. Russell worked as a laboratory assistant as an undergraduate and sought many teaching experiences while in graduate school. One of those experiences was the opportunity to guest lecture at Trevecca in the Cancer Biology course. During her time on campus, she fell in love with the students. Their passion for Christ, for science, and for people was evident; therefore, she jumped at the chance to apply when a position opened. She has been working with students in microarray technology to investigate biochemical pathways in yeast. In addition to teaching at Trevecca, she is very active in her church where she helps lead a singles class, volunteers in the nursery, and coaches youth soccer with her husband, Ron. She enjoys spending time with friends, running, going to concerts, and dining.
