Within the life and thought of the Trevecca Community, the Millard Reed School of Theology and Christian Ministry provides occasion for reflection upon the foundations, formation, and the Wesleyan vision of the historic Christian faith for living a reflective life of Christian service within the Church and society.
Mission Statement, Millard Reed School of Theology and Christian Ministry
Graduates of the Trevecca School of Theology and Christian Ministry are serving Christ and the Church faithfully as pastors, youth and children’s pastors, teachers, missionaries, evangelists, well-trained laypersons, and administrative personnel—throughout the world.
The Millard Reed School of Theology and Christian Ministry has a rich tradition, beginning with the earliest days of the University when J. O. McClurkan, founder of the University, sought to establish a “Bible training school” for persons who were called to “missionary, evangelistic, and other branches of Christian work."
Since those earliest days, such names as Greathouse, Wynkoop, and Dunning have contributed to the rich tradition that characterizes Trevecca’s School of Theology and Christian Ministry, which has made great contributions to the ongoing dialogue within the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. Today the Millard Reed School of Theology and Christian Ministry continues that tradition as its faculty members continue to provide undergraduate and graduate education for servant-leaders who are called to ministry in the 21st century.
