Trevecca Announces Winners of 2022 McClurkan Scholarship
Trevecca Nazarene University officials have named Timothy Weeks and CarolAnn Stockton the 2022 recipients of the McClurkan Scholarship. Named for University founder J.O. McClurkan, the full-tuition scholarship is the largest awarded by the University.
Weeks and Stockton were chosen from an exclusive group. To apply for the McClurkan Scholarship, students must have displayed a commitment to academic excellence and Christian service, a minimum score of 29 on the ACT or 1330+ on the SAT, combined with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Top applicants are then invited to campus to experience Trevecca’s campus life and participate in interviews, which took place in early November.
A leader and athlete, Weeks hails from Kokomo, Indiana. He holds various positions of leadership including president of IHSAA State Student Advisory Committee, student body vice-president and football and track team captain. He is also very involved in the arts, serving as president for the choral department and drama club and participating in show choir and musicals. Weeks serves in his church community, playing on the worship team and leading small groups. He is passionate about becoming a pediatrician and plans to major in biology at Trevecca.
Stockton has been class president at her high school for the last two years, a worship leader at her church and an active participant in theatre. While walking through difficult seasons of caretaking for family members, she discovered her calling to the medical field and has shadowed at a medical center for two years. In her free time, she is a volunteer tutor, a singer and actress for Precious Princess Parties, a participant in local charity races and a t-ball coach. She is passionate about becoming a physician’s assistant and plans to pursue the Pre-PA Pathway at Trevecca.
Trevecca officials are excited to welcome Weeks and Stockton to the Trevecca community.
“Trevecca is blessed to welcome these bright, young servant leaders,” said Melinda Miller, executive director of undergraduate admissions. “We look forward to walking alongside them as they respond to God’s call on their lives.”
On March 4th, a second round of interviews will be held, giving more students the opportunity to receive the McClurkan Scholarship.
